
All Stafford County schools and offices will close at the end of business on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, and remain closed through Sunday, January 3, 2010. Public services will not be available during this time. Scheduled activities (such as athletic events or building use authorized for outside organizations) will continue as previously scheduled.
Students and staff will report back to school on Monday, January 4, 2010. New residents wishing to enroll a student should contact the registrar at the appropriate school for an appointment on January 4, 2010. The attendance zone listing for the schools and registration requirements may be found using the links below.
Winter Break for students begins with an early release on December 22, 2009, and students report back to school on Monday, January 4, 2010.

2nd Vaccines for students ages 9 and under are not being released at this time. Further questions about this topic should be directed to the Health Department.

The Battle of the Books competition is open to all 6th-8th grade students. This is an academic competition that will be between all Stafford County Middle Schools on March 11. The competition will be held at Stafford Middle School.
This is a PARENT-SPONSORED event! There will be no school personnel available to supervise children. Parents/Guardians MUST accompany their students at all times. Students may not be dropped off -- unaccompanied children will not be permitted to attend.
December 21:
6th Grade: 8:35-10:10am

Thursday, January 14: Informational meetings for parents and prospective students in the auditorium at North Stafford High School and Stafford High School, 6:30-8:00pm, including a tour of the Governor's School classrooms, a broadcast between CGS sites, and an opportunity to meet current students and staff.
Thursday, February 11: Applications due to the gifted education resource teacher in each school (or to the Supervisor of Accelerated and Counseling Programs at the School Board Office address for out-of-county, private, or home-schooled students).
Monday, February 22 & Friday, February 26: Timed writing exercise administered by resource teachers for gifted education at each middle and high school.
Saturday, March 6: Achievement testing of applicants who do not have scores. Brooke Point High School, 8:30am - 12pm. Registration is 8:30am - 8:45am. Testing begins at 9:00am. No one will be admitted after 9:00am.
February - April: Individual interviews/portfolio reviews at each middle and high school.
End of April: Letters mailed to students with notification of status.
